They may have delivered a piping hot lunch right at your office desk with silent efficiency, but Mumbai’s iconic Dabbawalas are not willing to stay quiet over the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir. Two of the killed pilgrims were from Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, a group of men, best known for their timely and efficient delivery of lunch boxes in the mad rush of Mumbai, took to the streets demanding that the government must ensure the safety of Hindu pilgrims everywhere.
While on the one hand, the Kailash Yatra was halted by the Chinese, on the other, terrorists targeted innocent Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir. A sense of doubt and fear has taken over Hindu pilgrims in india. Hence, the government must step in to build a secure environment in Jammu and Kashmir. One of the Dabbawalas told ANI.
The protest, however, came with an array of suggestions. One of the Dabbawalas told ANI that the Indian Army must be given full powers to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He also lauded bus driver Salim, who drove through utter darkness and ensured the safety of pilgrims.
His bus, which was ferring Amarnath Pilgrims from Gujarat and Maharashtra, was attacked by motorcycle-borne terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag District on Monday evening.
