Amid mounting tensions in the valley, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. Emerging from the meeting, Mufti remarked that talks and stone-pelting cannot go hand-in-hand.

But Mufti had barely left Lok Kalyan Marg, when clashes broke out between school children and security personnel in Srinagar. While the students in school uniforms hurled stones, security personnel unleashed colour water cannons on the protesting lot.

Later, as she left the meeting with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Mufti promised to restore peace in the valley within a span of two to three months. She reiterated: Stone-pelting, bullets and talks cannot go hand-in-hand.
