The disturbing footage, filmed on 11 January at Taiyang Circus in Cangzhou City in northern China's Hebei Province, shows a tiger attempting to bite a horse's back as it is being gnawed from underneath by a lion.
The incident took place when the animals and other circus staff were rehearsing for a circus event in northern China.

According to local reports, the lion was angry after being kicked by the horse.
The circus staff whipped the lion and the tiger trying to rescue the horse from their clutches. After a long struggle, both the tiger and the lion were driven into their respective cages.
According to the local media, the horse suffered minor injuries.
