1. Comedian Utsav Allegedly Sent Sexually Explicit Messages to Minors

Comedian and Youtuber Utsav Chakraborty has been accused of sending sexually explicit messages to women, especially minors, on social media. It started as a Twitter thread about a group of Indian men’s obscene behaviour onboard a cruise, which Chakraborty condemned.

A Twitter user, then, got on to the thread to talk about the worst-kept secret in the Indian comedy circuit – the sexual abuse faced by women at the hands of the male comics.

2. Petrol, Diesel Get Cheaper by Rs 2.50/Ltr As Govt Cuts Excise Duty

The central government lowered prices of auto fuels by Rs 2.5 per litre to cushion consumers as they hit fresh highs every day because of a surge in crude oil.

The government lowered the excise duty on petrol and diesel Rs 1.50 per litre, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in a press conference on Thursday, 4 October. It also asked oil marketers to cut retail prices by Re 1. Jaitley asked states to match the excise duty cut announced by the central government.

Auto fuel prices rose as the Brent crude surged to an over four-year high of $86 a barrel. A weaker rupee only made imports costlier.

3. ‘Shaw Show’: Sachin, Sehwag Laud Prithvi Shaw’s Century on Debut

After scoring centuries in his first Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy matches, Prithvi Shaw smashed a hundred in his debut match in international cricket on Thursday, 4 October.

‘What a moment!’ tweeted Harbhajan Singh as the 18-year-old brought up his hundred off 99 balls, and became the second youngest Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to score a century in Test cricket.

Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman among others lauded the young cricketer’s memorable knock.

4. Assam Police Hands Over 7 Rohingya Refugees to Myanmar Authorities

The Supreme Court on Thursday, 4 October allowed the deportation of seven Rohingyas back to Myanmar.

It said the seven Rohingyas were found by the competent court as illegal immigrants, and Myanmar had accepted them as its citizens. They had come to Assam in the year 2012.

A plea was moved in the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking to restrain the Centre from deporting to Myanmar seven Rohingyas lodged in a detention centre at Silchar in Assam.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor says he was taking a "short leave from work" to go to the US for medical treatment because of the "wear and tear" caused due to working in Bollywood for over four decades.

7. Chanda Kochhar Quits ICICI; Sandeep Bakhshi Named CEO & MD

Nine years after Chanda Kochhar took over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Ltd. — then the country’s largest private bank by assets — she has stepped down. Sandeep Bakhshi, who is the chief operating officer of the bank, has been appointed as CEO for a period of five years, the bank said on Thursday.
