1. Burari Deaths: What We Know So Far

A family of 11 were found dead in a house in north Delhi’s Burari on Sunday, 1 July. Ten bodies were found hanging from a railing with their mouths and their faces covered, while the body of an elderly woman was found lying in an adjacent room.

The deceased, seven women and four men, have been identified as Narayan Devi (77), Bhavnesh (50), Lalit (45), Savita (48), Teena (42), Pratibha (57), Priyanka (33), Nitu (25), Monu(23), and two minors.

Police suspect that the deaths were part of a suicide pact, carried out in accordance with a religious practice, as handwritten notes found on the spot indicated.

2. Maharashtra Lynching: 5 Dead, 5 Injured Over WhatsApp Rumours

Five persons were lynched in Maharashtra's Dhule district on Sunday, 1 July, by villagers, who suspected that they were part of a gang of child-lifters, PTI reported.

Twenty-three people have been arrested in connection with the incident, reported News18, on Monday, 2 July. The incident took place at Rainpada, 25 kilometer from Pimpalner in the Dhule district, at around 11:30 am, officials told PTI.

3. Saif, Radhika & Nawaz on Going Digital With Netflix’s Sacred Games

‘Sacred Games’ shows an intriguing world set in the dark underbelly of Mumbai, where politics, crime and passion come together in a deadly game. ‘Sacred Games’ is based on Vikram Chandra’s critically acclaimed epic novel of the same name. The eight-episode crime drama stars Saif Ali Khan as Sartaj Singh, Radhika Apte as Anjali Mathur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Ganesh Gaitonde.

Saif Ali Khan makes his debut in the digital space with ‘Sacred Games’ and he agrees it is a great space to be in. “I think it's a great opportunity, a really interesting platform to be on to do some good and exciting work.” says Saif. But at the same time he admits it’s probably the hardest thing he has ever done.

5. Interpol Issues Red Corner Notice Against Diamantaire Nirav Modi

Accepting the demand of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Interpol has issued a red corner notice (RCN) against diamantaire Nirav Modi, his brother Nishal Modi and his employee Subhash Parab in connection with an over USD 2 billion scam, reported PTI.

The red corner notice will finally allow the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to move UK courts to extradite him.

The case pertains to cheating state-run Punjab National Bank through fraudulent issuance of Letters of Undertaking and Foreign Letters of Credit worth over USD 2 billion (about Rs 13,000 crore) by Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, both absconding since the first week of January.
