1. Kovind Thanks People of Bihar for Support, Leaves to Meet PM

Following the BJP’s parliamentary committee meeting, Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind was named as the NDA presidential nominee today. BJP chief Amit Shah made the announcement after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders of his party. However, the NDA allies are yet to endorse BJP’s nomination. 3. UK PM Calls Mosque Attack ‘Sickening’, Hails Locals’ Resolve

One person was killed and 10 others injured on Monday when a van collided with pedestrians near a North London mosque in an incident which is being investigated by counter terrorism officers, police said.

"One man was pronounced dead at the scene," the Metropolitan police said in a statement.

Police said eight people had been taken to three separate hospitals and two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A 48-year old van driver, who was detained by members of public at the scene and then arrested by police, has been taken to hospital and will be subject to a mental health assessment. Read the full story here.

4. Rajnath Urges For Peace in Darjeeling, Protests Continue

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has urged the people of Darjeeling to “remain calm and peaceful” on Sunday as protests in the region, demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland, have intensified.
