Dalit leader and newly elected legislator from Vadgam, Jignesh Mevani recently attacked PM Modi, calling him "irrelevant" and "boring." In an interview given to ANI, Jignesh Mevani asked PM Modi to go to the Himalaya's and become a preacher, stating that that the PM must stop fooling people with his false promises.

Modi ji, aap bada paka rahe ho! (Modi ji, you are making us bored)
Jignesh Mevani to ANI

On 19 December, in an interview, Jignesh Mevani had said the PM Modi should retire and go to the Himalayas.

Modi ji ko Himalaya pe chale jana chahiye apni haddiyaan galane ke liye.

On 20 December when a reported from Republic TV demanded an apology from Mevani, he refused to apologise maintaining that he was not ashamed of what he had said. He said that the PM had neither fulfilled his promise of providing employement to two crore people nor did the Modi Government help Rohith Vermula's mother or treat her well.

With a strong Dalit support base, Mevani had defeated the BJP rival by 19,696 votes.
