The purpose of this truck will leave you wonderstruck!

YASU, a Tokyo-based Japanese company created the ‘Mobile Mosque’ for muslim visitors ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The heavy-duty truck expands into a 48-square-metre large room that has the capacity to accommodate up to 50 people. The space is also equipped with prayer mats and a water basin for ritual pre-worship cleansing.

The mosque-on-wheels, which was debuted at Toyota stadium in western Japan, gives people a place to worship when they attend events.

The idea of religion in Japan can be a bit complicated. But as an open and hospitable country, we want to share the idea of Omotenashi, (Japanese hospitality) with Muslim people. That’s why we developed the Mobile Mosque.
Yasuharu Inoue, Executive Committee Chairman of the Mobile Mosque Project

As the truck is mobile and can move to places, the initiative will ensure there are no shortage of mosques for Muslim visitors during the Tokyo Olympics.

The Mobile Mosque Project plans to focus on international sporting events like the Olympics and the World Cup in the coming years.

Inoue says he hopes it will be used as a tool to bridge cultural barriers and promote world peace.
