After the sudden and mysterious disappearance of his father, an Iranian daredevil channelled his misery into becoming a fearless parkour master.

By soaring over rooftops 16 floors up, backflipping between buildings and changing clothes while hanging off the side of massive structures, you would think Alireza Japalaghy, 27, was born fearless.

A self-proclaimed ‘coward’, Alireza didn't have the best upbringing in Tehran, Iran, as he was bullied and picked on in school and by other kids in his neighbourhood.

Alireza started freerunning when his father – an ex-policeman – went missing after his retirement and never came back home.

"What better way for me to get rid of all my emotions than by channelling them through my career, doing all of this parkour?” Alireza said.

“Freerunning stunts and doing things that no one can even dream of lets me channel all of my misery. We started a file in court. The search and inspections began but nobody could tell us what happened to him even a minute after he was gone. One can't even imagine the aftermath and mental pressure me and my family went through due to my father's disappearance,” he said.
