Ever since Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar hastily formed the government in Maharashtra, only to step down soon after, the state has been in a state of frenzy.

The 80-hour political thriller that engulfed the nation was a battle of wits between the BJP, Ajit Pawar and the Union Government on one hand and the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress on the other.

Amidst all the political twist and turns, national newspapers have been in their element while headlining stories attempting to decode the political quagmire in the state.

Witty, Full of Puns and Sarcasm

The Telegraph’s front page read: “All the king’s horses and men couldn’t save GRUMPY DUMPTY”

Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar went with: “Ab ki baar, kho di sarkar”, a direct reference to PM Modi’s election campaign slogan ‘Ab ki baar Modi sarkar’.

While Mumbai Mirror played on the word ‘Pawar’, asking ‘How’s the Josh, sir?’ after Supreme court ended the confusion.

The Times of India also played on the word ‘Pawar’, using a cricket metaphor.
