A day after the CBI detained a Class 11 student of Ryan International School, Gurugram, in relation to the murder of Pradyumn Thakur, questions were raised over the earlier investigation conducted by the Gurugram Police who had arrested Ashok Kumar, a bus conductor, believing him to be the prime suspect.
Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar, however, clarified that their investigation had not been concluded and that evidence was still in the process of being gathered, when the case was handed over the the CBI.
The police had reportedly found the knife over the course of their investigation, but had not concluded that it was the murder weapon.
We had carried out investigation at a very early stage and then we handed over investigation to the CBI which I am hopeful will bring culprits to book and bring justice to the family.
Adding that there was no pressure on the police regarding the investigation, Khirwar asserted that their investigation was an 'honest attempt' to bring justice to Pradyumn's family.
