Got CBSE Paper Leak Details On a YouTube Comment: Whistleblower

A whistleblower from Ludhiana on 31 March, Saturday claimed that he wrote to the Central Bureau of Secondary Education (CBSE), the police and the Prime Minister’s Office about the paper leak of Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics board examinations.

“I alerted CBSE, PMO and police on 17 March, but no action was taken. I am sure Political Science paper was also leaked,” the whistleblower told ANI.

In an interview with CNN-News18, a student who claims to be on one of the WhatsApp groups where the papers were leaked, claimed that he got the contact information of the person who leaked the papers on a YouTube comment.

“After contacting him I gathered evidence in the form of chats and audio recordings. We even alerted CBSE and police but none of them acted,” the whistleblower told the news channel.

He further revealed that the papers were available for Rs 700 till one hour before the examination.

The student even claimed that the tout who leaked the board exam papers has assured the whistleblower that the he will do the same for the retest.

Another Student Claims Of Informing PM About Leak

Another Class 12 student from Ludhiana, Jhanvi Behal claimed that she wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 March, informing him about the paper leak, following which no action was taken.

"I wrote a letter to Prime Minister on 17 March about the paper leak but no action was taken. We got in touch with people who were leaking the papers through WhatsApp," Jhanvi told ANI.

Education Secretary Anil Swarup on Friday announced the dates for the retest of the two CBSE board exams – Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics.

Class 12 students across India will take their Economics exam on 25 April. However, the Class 10 Math exam will only be held in Delhi and Haryana, as the exam papers were leaked in those two states only, Swarup said. As it stands, the Class 10 re-exam, if at all happens, will take place in July.
