A luxury car without a registration plate and old currency notes were on Friday seized from the headquarters in Sirsa of the Dera Sacha Sauda, a sect whose head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, is in jail after being convicted for rape, an official said.
In a mammoth search operation being carried out by security forces and district authorities, some rooms were also sealed and hard disk drives and unlabelled medicines recovered, Haryana's Information and Public Relations Deputy Director, Satish Mehra said.
According to news agency ANI, plastic or token currency coins too were recovered from the Dera bastion.
Locals say plastic coins worth Rs 1 and Rs 10 were used inside the campus, and visitors had to exchange them with Indian currency, prior to any purchase made from the many shops inside the Dera.
The Dera, spread over nearly 800 acres, has been divided into ten zones for the purpose of sanitisation and searches, with each zone under the control of a senior officer.
Mobile Internet services have been suspended in Sirsa district till 10 September to curb the spread of rumours in view of the drive, and to prevent the disturbance of public order.
