Two days of heavy rainfall have resulted in several patient wards as well as the ICU of Nalanda Medical College Hospital being flooded. The situation is so bad that fish can be seen swimming in the waterlogged ICU of the state’s second largest hospital.

Doctors and nurses have been tending to their patients in knee-deep water. Many of the attendants claimed that the state of treatment at the hospital has been deteriorating as several doctors and nurses had not shown up.

The hospital staff has resorted to switching off vital equipment in the ICU to prevent short-circuits or electrocution.

We have switched off the electronics so that there’s no accident. It is necessary to switch them off.
