The Quint was in Bhopal to investigate the infamous encounter of SIMI activists who were killed by policemen in the outskirts of Bhopal. The activists had allegedly broken out of prison.
During the investigation, we spoke to an officer who is a part of the team that is investigating the 'encounter'. The officer told us about the security lapses on the part of jail authorities as well as the plan conceived by the activists.
Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, has also approved The Quint’s exclusive report. He alleged that Shivraj Singh’s government is trying to hide its faults and demanded an independent probe into the matter. The Congress leader also added that he isn’t optimistic about the prospects of an independent probe.
