Amrapali home-buyers got a huge relief as the Supreme Court has directed the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) to complete its pending projects. Although this is a step in the right direction for home-buyers, they are still facing many unanswered questions.
Questions Remain
Satyendra Narayan Singh, who bought a flat from Amrapali, says that the SC decision brings relief but no agreement has been reached so far. He says that the SC hasn’t specified a time-limit; if that had been done, there would’ve been more hopes of acquiring a flat.
“Why did the court ask us to deposit money without a concrete construction plan? How and when will my house be ready? Will the bank give me a top up loan on the remaining money or not? How and when will the authorities give us a completion certificate?”Akhilesh Verma, Amrapali Homebuyer
Issues Galore
The homebuyers are also faced with many issues such as lack of a concrete construction plan, increasing interest rates, and so on.
“How much money do the buyers have to deposit in 3 months? In whose account will the interest from the fixed deposit go? If NBCC fails to complete the project, then how will we get the remaining money back?”Kapil Khameshra, Amrapali Homebuyer
