TMC MPs Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty took oath on Tuesday, 25 June. But they were swarmed by media as soon as they stepped out of Parliament. Both the MPs could be heard telling the camerapersons and reporters “dhakka nahi maar sakte sir (you can’t push us aside sir)”.

At one point, the security personnel in Parliament had to create a distance between both the MPs and the reporters. Both of them also tried to get back inside the Parliament.

Nusrat Jahan was elected as MP from West Bengal’s Bashirhat and Mimi Chakraborty represents Jadavpur in the Lower House. Both the actor-turned-politicians took oath in Bangla language. They also chanted the slogans of Jai Hind, Vande Matram and Jai Bangla in the end.

Nusrat married businessman Nikhil Jain in Turkey’s Bodram on 20 June. Mimi was also present at the ceremony and hence both of them missed the oath ceremony for the newly elected MPs.
