In what is probably a sign of things to come, devotees also refrained from making cash donations, choosing instead to offer money to the deity using e-wallets, cheques and cards.
“We want to do something different and so we are offering prayers and money digitally,” said BJP leader Arun Dubey, who led a reported 50,000 people in the ceremony.
