A man was stabbed by a group of men in Delhi’s Khanpur over an altercation reportedly involving Holi celebrations late on 1 March. The attack was caught on camera. The footage shows at least 15 men on bikes chasing after the man in a narrow by-lane, in a bid to stab him.
NDTV identifies the man as Ashish, a resident of Duggal Colony. According to the channel, two men first attacked Ashish, stabbing him repeatedly. They were then joined by the others.
Once Ashish fell on to the road, the attackers fled the spot. NDTV quoted residents as saying that the altercation broke out after Ashish stopped the assailants from hitting up a boy for having thrown water balloons.
A police complaint has reportedly been registered in association with the incident.
Ashish is currently admitted in a local hospital and is in the critical care unit, doctors told NDTV.
The incident is the latest in a series of grotesque events surrounding a festival of Holi. Two days ago, students from LSR and other colleges protests against the festival after some girls were allegedly hit with semen-filled balloons in the city’s Amar Colony area.
