Bad news for the people of Maharashtra. Monsoon may get delayed. We can say it is the side-effect of Cyclone Vayu. Let’s understand the monsoon timetable to see how much of a delay it will be.

Kerala is always the first state to experience monsoon, but this time monsoon reached Kerala on 8 June. Monsoon hits Maharashtra by 12 June, but this year, there is no trace of it so far. Because of Cyclone Vayu, it may be delayed till 25-26 June.

As per the meteorological department the cyclone could absorb the clouds.

Let's understand why is this so bad for Maharashtra.

Three thousand villages across eight districts in the Marathwada are facing acute drought. The situation is so bad that natural water sources have dried up. There are long queues when the tankers arrive. Women are forced to walk kilometres to procure water. People have left their houses in many villages. You can imagine what the animals might be going through.

A 100 crore fund has been given to help the residents. But this is not very effective. We have had many chief ministers like Vilasrao Deshmukh and Ashok Chavan from the area. But their governments have never worked to put an end to drought. Since the people are suffering now, the politicians will suffer soon because the elections are around the corner. Especially those in power.
