In a video from Chhattisgarh, school girls can be seen crossing an overflowing river so that they can sit for their exams. They are desperate to get to their school which is on the other side of the river.
These girls wade through waist-deep in water, which at times can rise upto the level of their chests.
These girls are from a village called Bade Damali, about 25 kilometres from Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh. Bade Damali and other neighbouring villages get cut off from the rest of the district during floods.
They have no other option than to wait for the water to recede. The villagers have been asking for a bridge which connects the village to the main city, but no action has been taken yet.
