When most people list the highest paying jobs in the world, the chaiwala’s profession is something that you’d think would not make the cut. However, Pune-based Navnath Yewle’s chai sells better than hotcakes and earns him a handsome Rs 12 lakhs per month.

Through his Yewle Tea Stall, Navnath Yewle claims that he is trying to create a brand name for tea so he can take it to an international level.

Chai has no brand, no big name. There are a lot of people who do not drink tea, but they don’t get the taste in chai that they should be getting. So, after a thorough research of four years, we finalised a quality of tea and are now all set to make a big brand.

In his two outlets, he has employed 10 to 12 people each, and serves about 4,000 cups of tea from each outlet everyday. He sees it as a great employment opportunity and plans on expanding in the next five years. He even jokes that he hopes to make it as big as PM Narendra Modi did.

I feel it is a great employment opportunity because at one outlet of ours, we have employed 10-12 people and now, we are thinking of having 100 outlets, which means 1,000-1,200 people will receive employment in five years. So yes, it’s a great thing for the nation as well. Our PM became so accomplished just by making tea. We hope that someday, we will also reach that stature.

However, what sells in the Yewle Tea Stall is not just the chai but the experience, claims the owner.

Our Amrutulaya Chai is different. Elsewhere, you will see people making tea in a huge vessel, but here, we have given it a modern look and dressed our workers well so people have a good tea experience. Chai is an energy drink, and if people here feel energised then it will be great.

Punekars are loving not just Navnath Yewle’s chai but also the concept.

This is the first time that such a huge outlet has been seen only for tea. The quality, atmosphere, crowd and staff is brilliant, and you won’t get this taste anywhere else in Pune.
