Pakistan's women's rugby sevens team made its international debut at the Asia Rugby Women's Sevens Trophy in Laos in a groundbreaking step forward for women's sport in the conservative South Asian nation.
"For everyone it's a huge deal that the women are playing rugby," says Pakistan's Women's Rugby national team player Mehru Khan. "First, it’s a big deal that women are playing rugby. And secondly, we are getting a platform to come and represent our country."
Cultural barriers used to make it difficult for girls to take part in sports, especially a contact sport such as rugby.
