When a classmate criticised law student Arunima Bhattacharya for eating beef, on a WhatsApp conversation, she decided to engage in a debate. However, after the person likened her beef eating habits to incest, the Delhi University student shared the conversation on social media platforms.
In a chat with The Quint, she lashed out at the hypocrisy of those who propagate such arguments. Why is sex often used as a weapon in debates with women, she asked.
“The moment you say anything these days, that is even slightly out of sync with the populist ideologies, you are given rape threats and you’re called a whore,” Bhattacharya said.
