Batcha Theatre is 101 years old and is one of south India's oldest cinema halls. Situated in the Broadway, which is Chennai’s oldest area, the theatre runs on the first floor of a building that houses a rice warehouse on its ground floor. The theatre has 294 seats.

It was acquired by SM Batcha 10 years back, hence the name. Prior to that, it was popularly known as Minerva cinema.

In an era where multiplexes reign supreme and movie enthusiasts shell out hundreds of rupees on one movie, tickets at this theatre continue to be humbly priced at Rs 7 and Rs 15.
