After comprehensively winning bypolls on two Lok Sabha seats and one Assembly seat in Rajasthan, state Congress president Sachin Pilot has been the talk of the town. Speaking exclusively to The Quint’s Editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia, the Congress leader took a dig at Vasundhara Raje.

Anti-incumbency isn’t a ‘pakoda’ that can be taken away or given to someone. Vasundhara Raje is the face of poor governance delivered by BJP in last 4 years. Even if PM Modi campaigns for her, she will have to suffer for the poor governance.

Pilot also said that the BJP is no ‘election-winning machine’. He claimed that the state government of Rajasthan did everything in its power to win the bypolls but still couldn’t avert a defeat.

The Chief Minister herself and one-and-a-half dozen of her cabinet ministers had set up camp in all three constituencies that had bypolls. They even misused the police, administration, money and power to turn things in their favour and yet, they lost.

Talking about the BJP’s changing stance on Karni Sena’s protests over Padmaavat, the Congress leader believed that the whole chaos and violence over the movie could have been avoided if Chief Minister Raje had found a suitable way out, right when the issue had been raised raised and the movie was being shot in early 2017.

There seemed to be a competitive politics between certain state governments over banning the movie. If Vasundhara ji was actually a well-wisher of Kshatriya Samaj, there would not have been so much row if she had found a solution [...] right when the movie was being shot last year.
