Crowd Beats Up Two Alleged Cow Thieves in Mughalsarai

The two accused were allegedly caught trying to run away with a cow and a calf.

In another act of cow vigilantism, a crowd in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh beat two men who were allegedly trying to steal a cow and a calf. According to an ANI report, the men were fleeing after stealing the animals and were caught red-handed by their owner.

The crowd then tied up the two alleged thieves and thrashed them. They were en route to a police station when the cops caught up with them and took the men into custody. The entire incident was caught on camera.

The incidence of cow vigilantism took place in Subhash Nagar area of Mughalsarai.

Speaking to ANI, the superintendent of police Santosh Kumar Singh said that an FIR has been registered for theft. He also added that he has instructed the in-charge of the area to look into the video that shows the accused being beaten up. Singh said that action will be taken against the people seen in the video.

A video which has surfaced recently shows two thieves tied up by these men who were bringing them to the police station. By then, the police had reached and the two were handed over. A case has been registered for cow theft. Both the thieves are unhurt. I have asked the area in-charge to investigate if they were beaten by the crowd. If this is the case, then action will be taken against those people as well.
