The Chandni Chowk market at Old Delhi saw a fire break out late on Monday night. The fire fighting team were executing their operation when the AAP MLA Alka Lamba reached the spot and tried to take charge of the operation. Traders allege that their shops were gutted due to Lamba’s needless intervention.
Lamba allegedly climbed the fire brigade crane and added to the chaos and delay at the site. Reportedly, the fire broke out possibly due to a short circuit and it took nearly 10 hours for 30 fire tenders to control it. Yet, about 40 shops have been burned, causing a loss of over Rs 100 crore.
