A five-year-old boy named Mabusab Sohail Kanake from Laxmeshwar town in Gadag district went missing on Wednesday from Karnataka Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) , Hubli where he had came with his parents for treatment of a skin ailment. The little boy was allegedly kidnapped by an unidentified man from the hospital’s OPD ward while his parents were busy completing registration formalities.
The distraught parents searched for the child of their own and returned to Laxmeshwar. Next day they filed an FIR, said Dr Shivappa Anirushetru, the Medical Superintendent at KIMS.
KIMS is a government-run hospital. In the last three years, this is the fourth such incident that has occurred at KIMS. Police investigations into the case are going on but there are no leads into the identity of the kidnapper or his gang as yet. Meanwhile, authorities at KIMS have promised to enhance their security measures.
