Indian Security Forces gunned down 3 Lashkar-e-Taiba militants in an encounter in Pulwama district in South Kashmir late on Wednesday evening. The day seemed to be quite favourable for the Security personnel as 5 militants were neutralised, giving a great blow to the LeT terrorist organisation. This was the second successful counter-insurgency operation after 2 militants were taken down in Sopore, Baramulla district, North Kashmir early on Wednesday.
The information received through sources led to the deadly gun battle that lasted for over six hours. The Pulwama region is believed to have many locals affiliated to LeT. After the encounter, the military seized 2 AK-47 and a pistol from the terrorists. On 17 June, the encounter of LeT militant commander Junaid Mattoo is also seen as a great step in combating terrorism. Experts believe that this is a great achievement for security personnel that will act as a blow to the terrorist organisation.
