In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, a gang of five-seven local men abducted a 28-year-old woman and raped her in the outskirts of the village.

According to the victim’s brother, the woman had gone to the nearby market to buy vegetables when the goons initially tried to offer her money, but when she refused them, they abducted her. The perpetrators took her to a factory on the outskirts of the village where they committed the heinous crime.

An FIR has been registered on the basis of the survivors’ brother’s complaint. According to Akhan Pratap Singh, DSP, Sitapur district, two of the accused have been named, while others are still unidentified. He assures that the perpetrators will be arrested by tonight.

With the glaring surge in crime rates in Uttar Pradesh, one question still haunts women – are they safe enough?
