Though the Mobile World Congress officially kicked off on 25 February in Barcelona, multiple tech giants have already launched their respective gizmos in the market. From Xiaomi launching two new smartphones, to Huawei launching its first foldable phone the Mate X.

Here's a quick low down of what's been making headlines at the gala event.

The Chinese ruled the roost at MWC with Xiaomi announcing two new smartphones the Mi Mix 3 and the Xiaomi Mi 9. Sad news for the 'bhartiya janta' as it's unlikely that these two phones will be coming to India.

The new Mi Mix 3 comes with a 6.3-inch bezel-less display and will run on the latest Snapdragon 855 processor. It also comes with a 10GB RAM variant. The Mi 9 comes with a triple rear camera setup which according to Xiaomi is a top scorer in the DXO Mark rating.

Huawei launched its own foldable phone, the Mate X which comes with three different screens you can operate on. It has a triple camera setup which can be used for selfies as well. The Mate X is powered by a 4,500mah battery and has been priced around 2,299 Euros which is roughly Rs 1.9 lakh! The company also introduced three new laptops in its MateBook series.

Though foldable phones were the talk of the event, Oppo stuck to talking more about 5G, its camera technology which features 10x lossless zoom. The company is looking to introduce phones with primary sensors up to 48-megapixel coupled with an ultra-wide lens, as well as a telephoto lens. With this tech, the company is looking to fit in lots of lenses in a thin form factor.

Nokia has launched a smartphone the Nokia 9, which comes with five rear cameras. The phone has been priced at 699 dollars and most likely will be coming to India. The Nokia 9 comes with a 6-inch Quad-HD display. It's running on a Snapdragon 845 which I feel might be a deal breaker for many. The company also announced a slew of mid-range devices like the Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2.

After a very long absence, Sony has launched a couple of smartphones of its own. The Sony X1, which is an ultra-tall phone, comes with a 21:9 screen ratio display. The company is touting it to be the world's first phone to sport a 4K OLED display.

And then there were some other innovations like TCL's foldable phone, Microsoft's Holo Lens  2 which offers mixed augmented virtual reality and LG launched a smartphone that uses gestures and hand movements to opens apps and other features.
