A 47-run defeat to New Zealand in the tournament opener in Nagpur and Indian skipper MS Dhoni laid the blame squarely on the Indian batting line up.
“I think it was a low scoring wicket. I thought we restricted them to a good total, but the batting let us down. The shot selection kept putting pressure on the batsmen coming in,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Dhoni’s Indian team, ranked no 1 in the T20 format, simply failed to show any resistance to the Kiwi spinners as nine of their wickets fell to them.
The Indian skipper though is positive his team will bounce back from the defeat with ease.
