An unsafe neighbourhood in Pachuca, a Mexican city has got a colourful makeover.

What now looks like a giant rainbow mural was once an unsafe neighbourhood. It all began 14 months back with government funds. They persuaded residents one after another to allow their houses to be painted and whitewashed.

The swirly rainbow designs, bright stripes running across the walls swooping into graceful circles has brought people together and closer to one another. A perfect example of how art unites the people.

The residents too are overjoyed as their neighbourhood has got a new air and everything looks nicely painted and fixed up.
