Legendary filmmaker and actor Raj Kapoor’s wife, Krishna Raj Kapoor passed away on Monday morning, 1 October, in Mumbai. According to reports, Krishna Raj Kapoor passed away at around 4 am from a cardiac arrest. She was 87.
Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, Riddhima was the first one to post the news on social media. She posted a picture of her with mom Neetu Singh and Krishna Raj Kapoor on her Instagram page with the message, “I love you, I will always love you, RIP Dadi”.
While the film industry took to social media to pay their condolences, some close friends of the Kapoor Khandaan made sure they made a personal visit at the Kapoor residence in Chembur to pay their last respects. From Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji to Kajol and Anil Kapoor, most Bollywood celebrities were spotted condoling with the family.
Krishna, who married Raj Kapoor in May 1946, is survived by her sons Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor, and daughters Ritu Nanda and Rima Kapoor-Jain.
"Regret to announce I lost my mother early this morning. She died peacefully," Randhir said in a statement.
Krishna was the sister of the legendary villain, the late Prem Nath and comedian Rajendra Nath and their brother-in-law is the other Bollywood baddie, Prem Chopra.
In the industry, Krishna commanded a lot of respect, and that was visible as a string of celebrities turned up to pay their last respects.
