The iconic yellow Ambassador taxi, which has come to define Kolkata, has been gradually disappearing from the city’s streets after Hindustan Motors stopped manufacturing the car from May 2014.
The Beliaghata 33 Palli club has dedicated their Durga Puja Pandal to these iconic taxis. The theme is ‘Nostalgia’, as these taxis have been very much a part of Kolkata for decades.
To decorate the pandal, the organisers have dismantled the cars and have used several parts as art installations, even using some of the cars in its full structure. The pandal has already become the talk of the town.
