Katrina Kaif is one of the top actors in our film industry and now she’s also an entrepreneur. She recently launched her beauty line Kay Beauty in collaboration with Nykaa. The actor-turned-entrepreneur talks to The Quint and tells us why she chose to launch a beauty line, instead of a clothing line. She even spoke about South actor Nayantara who is one of the women featured in a Kay beauty campaign video written by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.
A lot has been said about one of Kay Beauty’s poster which looks like a copy of Kim Kardashian KKW campaign poster. So we asked Katrina about it, watch the video to find out what she has to say.
Katrina, why not a clothing line or something else. Why a make-up line?
I think it’s important for you if you’re doing anything, whatever it is, that you choose something that is genuinely you. And genuinely your area of interest, passion and expertise for lack of a better word. And make-up has been that for me. It has been a part of my career since I have been a model going to films. I do lot of my own make-up for the most part over the years. And I know what I want from make-up, what I know, what I want from the products and I knew what I wanted to deliver with my brand.
Nayanthara campaigns for Katrina Kaif line?
Ya, Nayathara is a woman I incredibly admire. She is a South superstar, an icon and an incredible performer and actor. I just picked up the phone and told her that you know this is what I am doing and this is what I have done with Kay beauty and I would love for you to be a part of it and she flew down for a day and shot the video for me. Which is just incredibly gracious of her.
