PM Modi Holds A Roadshow in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently holding a mega roadshow in his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, a day before filing his nomination papers on Friday, 26 April. The roadshow will stretch over six kilometres, beginning in the Lanka area of the city and covering Assi Ghat, Bhadaini, Sonarpura, Madanpura, Jangambadi, Godowlia before concluding at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.

Not Priyanka Gandhi, Ajay Rai to Contest from Varanasi
The Congress party on Thursday, 25 April, announced its decision to field local strongman Ajay Rai against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Varanasi. This came after weeks of speculation about a potential heavyweight battle between PM Modi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi.
Rai, a five-time MLA from Uttar Pradesh, had contested in Varanasi against PM Modi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in 2014 as well. Back then, he was routed by the prime minister, who had secured 5,81,022 votes, as opposed to Rai’s 75,614 votes.
