A group of friends created a real-life Mario Kart race in a British shopping mall. Without permission, the group donned costumes of the main characters – Bowser, Princess, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Yoshi War and Mario – and drove into Westfield Shepherds Bush in London, on crazy carts.

The video shows them weaving in and out of mall furniture and recording their escapade on GoPros, as bemused onlookers watch on puzzled. The stunt – carried out early in the morning when the mall was deserted – sees them race through without being stopped by security.

The race lasted ten minutes – spanning the main shopping concourse and car park, before they slipped away in a mini van still dressed as the cartoon characters. But just as they thin they have got away scot free, the police catch up with them where the video ends. The group refused to be drawn on the outcome of their brush with the law.
