‘The Nose Knows’, the world’s first underarm-sniffing speed dating event, opened in London on 27 April.
You are not the only one if you are unsure of what to make of it. Here’s a video of the event to the rescue.
The creators define their event as “a small-scale revolt against a highly-deodorised world and online dating.”
The scientific logic behind this includes molecular influences on body odour, which, in turn, play a major role in shaping sexual preference. People are more likely to be attracted to people with a completely opposite molecular composition as their own.
I think this is dating chaos in the best way.Sam Bompas, one of the organisers of the event
Bompas, whose firm – Bompas & Parr – specialises in “flavour-based experience design”, also claims that their event sold out within two hours owing to the “huge demand for sniffing strangers’ pits.”
