Delhi Assembly has passed the Jan lokpal Bill, incorporating suggestions of Anna Hazare, which provides for an ombudsman with powers to act against any government functionary, including those of the Centre. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal warned the NDA dispensation against any move to put a spanner on making it a law.
The passage of the Bill was, however, criticised by AAP’s former colleague and expelled leader Prashant Bhushan. The activist-lawyer said, despite amendments in the Bill, the appointment and removal was still in the hands of the political establishment.
Several other politicians also criticised the present draft of the Bill, saying it was toothless and weak.
