A day after the Congress released its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the manifesto, calling it ‘fake and corrupt,’ while speaking at a rally in Arunachal Pradesh. Read the full story here.

Scoffing at the Congress party, PM Modi said that their manifesto is as corrupt as the party itself. On the other hand, Nirmala Sitharaman did a press conference on the manifesto promising to amend the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act - AFSPA saying “it is an effort to weaken the armed forces.”

2. Sensex, Nifty Slump After Record High Ahead of RBI Policy

Indian equity benchmarks S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty halted a record run ahead of RBI policy on Wednesday, 3 April, reports BloombergQuint.

According to experts cited by PTI, inflow of foreign liquidity in expectation of rate cut from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and revival in earnings will provide some stability in the market. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is holding a two-day meeting between 2 and 4 April for the first bi-monthly policy statement for 2019-20.

3. Congress 8, BJP 3 in Chhattisgarh. But Jogi Is X-Factor: Survey

The Congress had swept Chhattisgarh in the Assembly elections last year, winning 68 out of 90 seats, reducing the BJP to just 15 seats in a state it had ruled for 15 years. This was a huge turnaround from the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in which the BJP won 10 out of 11 seats in Chhattisgarh. In fact in the 2018 Assembly elections, the Congress led in 10 Lok Sabha seats while the BJP led in just one.
