Mohammad Shokeen and twelve members of his family could not cast their votes on Sunday, 12 May, as their names were missing from voter's list despite the fact they have been living at the same address in Delhi for 32 years. LS Phase 6: Overall Voter Turnout 59.7% Till 6 PM, Highest in WB
The overall voter turnout till 6:00 pm was at 59.7 percent, as per the Election Commission. West Bengal so far has recorded the highest voter turnout with 80.13 percent, while Bihar saw the least participation with 55.04 percent. BJP’s Bharati Ghosh in Tears After Being Heckled at WB Poll Booth
Bharati Ghosh, Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate from Ghatal in West Bengal, broke down on Sunday, 12 May, after she was allegedly attacked and heckled at a polling booth by women "hired by the Trinamool Congress” during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, reports Hindustan Times. “TMC supporters pushed me to the ground. They are not allowing any polling to be held in Keshpur area. These women were hired by the TMC. I shall complain, in writing, to the EC (Election Commission of India),” she alleged. Read more here.
