Congress leader Ahmed Patel has been able to retain his Rajya Sabha seat. At the same time, BJP's Amit Shah and Smriti Irani were also elected to the Rajya Sabha. This was an extremely interesting election in Gujarat as it's a lesson for both the BJP and the Congress. Both parties have made some mistakes. People have lots of questions related to the recent elections, such as,

  • Despite Congress having 57 legislators in the state, how did Ahmed Patel of Congress manage only 44 votes?
  • Despite adopting all kinds of tactics to maintain its sway in Gujarat, how did the BJP lose in the state?
  • How will these results affect the Gujarat assembly elections?
  • Will the Patel-Shah's political battle continue?

Know the answers to all these questions in Breaking Views from The Quint's Editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia.
