On Monday, the Bombay high Court put a stay on ban of meat sale on September 17, which was imposed in the wake of Jain festival Paryushana Parva between 10 and 17 September.
The ban on selling meat on four days during Jain Festival of Forgiveness triggered controversy as BJP’s ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, condemned the decision of curbing people’s right to eat what they want.
Netizens had also criticised the decision and slammed both the BMC and the BJP over the ban.
