Assam: 12 Dead in Kokrajhar Terror Attack, Two Militants Killed

12 civilians were shot dead by suspected terrorists at the crowded Balajan Tinali market in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, on Friday.

Terming the act as ‘cowardly’ and ‘dastardly’, Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the next of the kin of the deceased.

A compensation of Rs 1 lakh was announced for those injured.

Heavy rains since Friday morning, at a rate of over 50 mm per hour, flooded many parts of India’s financial capital, disrupting rail, road and air traffic. This coincided with a high-tide warning issued for the same day, crippling the drainage system of the city.
