The crafty canine loves nothing better than riding the waves at Cronulla Beach, near Sydney, along with her owner Paul Novotny.
Paul said the three-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier has loved the water since she was a puppy and started copying him and his children in the surf.
The firefighter, from Wooloware, New South Wales, said now a crowd always gathers whenever Ash decides to hit the ocean.
Paul, who is married to Irene, lives with Ash and their three children, son Jay, 14, and daughters Sami, 12, and 10-year-old Ally.
Paul, who is stationed at Alexandria for Fire and Rescue NSW, said the whole family shared Ash’s love of the water.
Ash is three years old and has never showed any fear in the water. If anything she cannot get enough water and will even sit under the garden sprinkler.
Whenever Ash hits the waves there are always onlookers on the water’s edge with their phones out taking pictures and videos. They cheer her on especially when she does a perfect dismount onto the sand.
We will not put Ash out in surf if I can’t have my feet on a sand bank so I can help her over the waves. If the surf’s too big she also will sit it out, but it doesn’t stop her from having fun on the water’s edge. Ash is a good swimmer but when she does surf she wears a life jacket especially for dogs as a precaution as she does go under and it just helps her get up quicker.Paul Novotny, the owner of Ash, the surfing Terrier
