Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt can be called the superstars of 2018 and they both are all set to dominate 2019 as well. After giving successful hits like Padmaavat, Raazi and Simmba, the two stars collaborate for Zoya Akhtar’s much awaited Gully Boy. The movie is inspired by the life of two very famous rappers from the Mumbai streets, Naezy and Divine. The Zoya Akhtar directorial sees Ranveer Singh essaying the role of an aspiring rapper. Alia is playing the role of a brash Muslim girl who is also Ranveer’s girlfriend in the movie.
Ranveer has had a brush with rapping himself. He had rapped a bit in the title track of his second film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.
When Zoya Akhtar was asked during the trailer launch of Gully Boy about Alia singing, she said that “we would not comment on that” and when we asked Alia about rapping she had this to say.
“It’s fun, I feel like I’ve not got the lyrics bang on but once I have learned the song then I’m going to try and go in for a flow and I’m gonna go on the Gully Beat app and rap.”Alia Bhatt
When we asked Ranveer about his preparations for Gully Boy, this is how he responded.
“I have always been into rap and always been into hip-hop and I am born and raised in Mumbai, so there was a lot that is required for this character already alive inside me.”Ranveer Singh
The duo will be seen together for the first time in Gully Boy and they will also be working on Karan Johar’s Takht which is expected to release in 2020.
Gully Boy releases on 14 February and let’s make it clear once again, it is not a biopic! The movie is a fictional story inspired by the lives of Naezy and Divine.
