27-year-old Grant Chrispin from Ohio in the US surprised his lover of three years with a marriage proposal, while they were pacing at the Sault International Festival of Races on Saturday .

Grant’s partner Carmela Taranto was rather puzzled when her sister asked her to take a break while they were halfway into the marathon. She then bumped into Grant, who by then had knelt down, ready with a box of wedding rings.

It was a moment of overpowering emotions for the couple as they hugged each other, with Carmela still recovering from the sweet shock that she had just received. The two were thrown into a long distance relationship after Carmela, who’s a resident of Canada, failed to get a US visa.
