Only a couple of days after a Tanzanian student was stripped and assaulted by a mob in Bengaluru, a group of Nigerian nationals have been attacked in Hyderabad.
The Nigerians filed a complaint at a police station in Hyderabad, alleging that they were attacked by a group of local youths over a brawl in Tolichowki.
A case has been registered against unknown persons.
The Nigerians claimed that they were beaten and assaulted by a group of people in Kakimpet area in Tolichowki. The complaint alleged that assailants were carrying knives and pistols.
The incident took place on Thursday at 8.30 pm when a group of Nigerians nationals were returning after visiting a mosque when some locals made racist comments and began a quarrel. The locals were joined by scores of people, after which the argument took an ugly turn.
A case has been registered under IPC sections 323 and 34. The police are investigating the matter.
